INTERNO4 is an independent organisation founded in Bologna, where it had its exhibition place for about two years. From its very beginning, INTERNO4 intended to be a place for interaction, in a first moment as living and working space of 5 artists and in a second moment when its started working with other young Italian and International artists, bringing their experience in the city of Bologna.

Over two years INTERNO4 has realized twelve events, working with more than thirty Italian and International artists, which ranged from visual arts to experimental music.

At the moment all the components of the original project continue to work in different Italian and International Institutions or independently.

In the course of the last months, the four members of the group, had different kinds of experiences. This motivated the desire of meeting each other again, both in a physical and an experimental way, and share the new knowledge and stimuli that each of them has gained.

To meet a life and project partner through new eyes, equipped of new modalities of practice; all these factors led to QUADRATO, an event that aims to bring together the different energies of INTERNO4 under a new light.

Each person of the group will bring in the exhibition the result of their work, combining it with the one of the others. The theoretical and practical work of every single component will become the construction material of one big installation. Quadrato is a container, opened and flexible, which will not remain a single event, but it aims to be a new step for INTERNO4, a further prototype of event and tool of research.

Quadrato is a project by Giulia Cenci (Cortona 1988, lives and works in Den Bosch, NL), Giovanni Copelli (Correggio 1989, lives and works in London, UK), Nicola Melinelli (Perugia 1988, lives and works in Bologna, IT), Vincenzo Simone (Seraing 1980, lives and works in Bologna IT), and it will be hosted by VID (VISUAL INSTITUTE OF DEVELOPMENTAL SCIENCES).

One of our 1st year master students, Alexandros Kaklamanos, is participating in the following exhibition, in Bologna.

New Future

January 18^th – February 17^th, 2013 | Palazzo Poggi Museum | Bologna, Italy

One of the most important goals fixed lately by BJCEM is to decrease the distance between the young contemporary artistic production and the art market, creating and establishing a contact between an audience of professionals and collectors and emerging artists of interest.

The exhibition New Future is a further step in this direction (started with the participation to the Art Fairs Swab and The Others), gathering a selection of artists that we’ve presented last september in Nottingham, on the occasion of the World Event Young Artists. The artists are: Jessica Lloyd-Jones (UK), Zoe Giabouldaki (Greece), Alexandros Kaklamanos (Greece), Martin Vongrej (Slovakia), Muna Amareen (Jordan), Karmil Cardone (Italy), Giulia Manfredi (Italy), Laura Skocek (Austria), Akram Al Halabi (Syrian), Fabrizio Cotognini (Italy), Tzion Abraham Hazan (Israel), Igor Bošnjack (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Moussa Sarr (France).

Organized by the Association Visioni Future, the Museum of Modern Art of Bologna (MAMbo) and BJCEM, curated by the young Manuela Valentini, the exhibition will be hosted from January 18^th to February 17^th, 2013 at the Museum of Art and Science of Palazzo Poggi in Bologna. The event is part of ArtCity Bologna, the cultural program of exhibitions and institutional initiatives organized at Art Fair 2013.

The artists have worked on site-specific interventions made especially for the occasion and their works want to establish a dialogue with the history of the building. Since 1711 Palazzo Poggi has turned into a very efficient center for research, production and dissemination of scientific knowledge, thanks to the efforts of General Luigi Marsili (1658-1730). Nowadays its rooms, frescoed by some of the great painters of the past (among which Pellegrino Tibaldi and Prospero Fontana) host many cabinets that hold specimens of extinct animals species, archaeological finds and the equipment that scientists used for their scientific and anatomical studies.

The exhibition – which is sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Heritage and Culture, the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education,Arts and Culture and the Basilicata region – is at the “piano nobile” of Palazzo Poggi. The antique collections will share their space with contemporary works, realized with modern materials: a show within a show, that encourages the visitor to move freely through the rooms in a sort of “treasure hunt” of unexpected work to be found in unexpected places.
